1473735 Chloroacrylic acid amide derivatives CIBA-GEIGY AG 1 Aug 1974 [2 Aug 1973] 34051/74 Heading C2C 1-Chloroacrylic acid amide derivatives of the general formula wherein R 1 represents C 1 -C 4 -alkyl, R 2 represents C 1 -C 8 -alkyl, or a cycloalkyl bound directly or by way of an alkylene bridge member, or a benzyl or phenyl radical which is unsubstituted or at most trisubstituted in the aromatic nucleus, and x represents the number 1 or 2 are prepared by reacting a compound of Formula II in the presence of an acid-binding agent, with a compound of Formula III or with the alkali salt thereof, oxidizing, e.g. by an organic peroxy acid the resulting thio compound to the corresponding sulphinyl or sulphonyl compound of Formula I. The compounds have microbicidal properties and may be used in the cellulose, paper and food industries and incorporated in plastics, wax and polishing wax compositions. Several examples are given. Insecticides, fungicides, bactericides, fungistatics, bacteriostatics, nematocides, fertilizers and trace elements may also be included in the compositions.
