A method of making the discs comprises coating a web 11 of a flexible non-magnetic base material with randomly oriented particles 15 in a liquid binder 17, hardening the binder in a drier 21 and die cutting the coated web 23 with diecutting apparatus 25. The particles are preferably acicular ferro-magnetic material.
