NOVEL CATALYST COMPOSITION AND ITS USE FOR OLIGOMERIZATION OF MONOOLEFIN

PURPOSE: To increase the ability of a catalytic compsn. to promote the oligomerization of monoolefins by preparing the catalytic compsn. with the reaction product of a divalent nickel compd., a hydrocarbylaluminum halide and an epoxy compd. CONSTITUTION: At least one divalent nickel compd. is allowed to react with at least one hydrocarbylaluminum halide and at least one epoxy compd., in any order, and the reaction product is used as the objective catalytic compsn. in the oligomerization of monoolefins. The molar ratio of the hydrocarbylaluminum halide to the nickel compd. is appropriately 1:1 to 50:1 and the molar ratio of the epoxy compd. to the nickel compd. is appropriately 0.1:1 to 10:1.
