<p>Spark plug contains a fixing device and a first and a 2nd electrode attached to fixing device and separated from one another by a gap acting as spark gap. Electrodes each consist of alloys contg. 60-99.9% W, V, impoverished U (i.e. contg. 0.23% U-235), Rh, Ir or Pd and 0.1-40% Cr, Cu, Ba aluminate, Fe, Th oxide and/or Ni. Good results are also achieved with an electrode consisting of 60-99.9% Ni and 0.1-40% Cu, Ba aluminate, Fe, Th oxide and/or Cr. One electrode is pref. a cathode and the other an anode. Cathode pref. consists of an alloy contg. 0.1-40% Ba aluminate and anode of an alloy contg. 0.1-40% Cr, Cu and/or Ni. Service life is lengthened by reducing spark erosion and preventing deposition of Pb, Pb oxide and other carbonising contaminants on electrodes during operation.</p> |
