PURPOSE:To easily prepare a coating solution for forming a recording layer even when a dye low in solubility is used by coating a substrate with the coating solution for forming the recording layer prepared by dissolving a dye in a solvent containing fluorinated alcohol and an acid and drying the coating layer to form the recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A coating solution for forming a recording layer prepared by dissolving a dye in a solvent containing fluorinated alcohol and an acid is applied to a substrate and dried to form a recording layer. The solvent containing fluorinated alcohol and an acid has high capacity dissolving a dye, especially, a melacyanine dye low in solubility. Further, since this solvent does not dissolve the substrate composed of plastic, the substrate receives no damage in a coating process for forming the recording layer. By this method, the disappearance of the group of the surface of the substrate and a lowering of the reflectivity of the recording layer are not generated and a high performance data recording medium can be easily prepared. |
