NON-CONTACT MACHINING METHOD AND DEVICE

PURPOSE: To machine a workpiece within an allowable tolerance limit as low as about 1% by adjusting an adjustable parameter for machining a second feature to an extrapolated size determined from a first measurement using extrapolation method. CONSTITUTION: The size of the first feature of a workpiece and the combined sizes of the first and second features are measured by a measuring apparatus 20 to respectively transmit a first measurement signal and a second measurement signal. To determine the extrapolated size of the second feature from the first measurement signal using extrapolation method so that the combined sizes of the first and second features are within a predetermined tolerance, the first measurement signal is received and analyzed, and an adjustable parameter for machining the second feature using a machine 30 is set by a controller 16.
