The supporting socket in the ground is used for holding road sign supporting post which is made especially from a plastics material. The supporting post is held in the cavity of a socket which is driven into the ground. The socket has a number of cavities which are separated by vertical partition walls and this socket is driven fully into the ground to its full depth. The vertical partition wall ensures that the soil is broken up on driving in and can hence be readily scooped out from the cavities while the socket itself is completely and firmly held in the ground. The socket arrangement (2) with a upper hollow chamber (3) has a lower socket part (4) and a lower end circular shaft (5). The shaft is held on the lower part of the socket by vertical partition walls (6). The shaft is made from a tube and it has a pointed lower end for driving purposes. The socket may have a triangular cross section fro accommodating a plastics post of triangular cross section. |
