<p>The insulating spacer, for holding overhead by phase conductors apart, consists of a rod made of a metal tube (3) with glass fibre-reinforced plastic insulators (4) at the ends. The insulating rods have de-icing skirts along their lengths and suitable connectors at their ends for joining with the HV conductors. The metal tube is more rigid than the insulators and has a wall thickness comprising between 5 and 20% of its diameter. The ratio of the product of the modules of elasticity and the moments of inertia about the tube's and a rod's axis respectively for the tube and a rod lies between 1.5 and 20.</p> |
