The opto-electronic semi-conductor coupling consists of a light emitter and a photosensitive detector capable of working at high modulation frequencies. The diodes and transmitting medium are integral so as to have a min. overall size. The three basic components emitter, receiver and transmitting medium are built on a crystalline substrate (1) with diodes are formed by a succession of epitaxial layers. The emitting diode (2,3,4) and receiving diode (5,6,7) are formed at opposite ends of the device, with a transmission region (8,9,10) formed between them. The multi-layer transmission region is insulated from the diodes by two vertical oxide layers (11,12).
|
