<p>Grid consists of a set of parallel bars placed across the stream of water. The bars lie in a plane inclined to the vertical, so that the foot of the grid is further upstream than the head. The bars are connected by cross members on the downstream side, and lying wholly behind the bars. Whole depth of the bars may be cleaned with a scraping appts.. Cross members are broad, so that the ends of any entrained long fibres stay separate, floating at different levels in the water and not knotting together; thus facilitating their removal.</p> |
