<p>Fabric softening compsns. comprise a sulphated mixt. of (a) 10-70 wt. % 4-30C aliphatic alcohol(s) and 90-30 wt. % unsatd. oil(s), excluding castor oil. The prod. is useful as a substit. for sulphated castor oil (Turkey red oil) which is presently in short supply. The prods. give good softening effect and handle improvement to a wide range of natural and synthetic fabrics and blends. The alcohol used is pref. a mixt. of 8-16C Oxo process bottom alcohols. The unsatd. oil is pref. a vegetable oil, specif. mustard seed oil, peanut oil, cashew nut shell oil, safflower oil, etc.</p> |
