<p>The seat (8) of the fork lift truck is pivoted about a transverse axis (11) to tilt backwards when occupied. This releases a spring loaded linkage (6, 7, 12) which couples the brake pedal to the brake linkage via a ratchet (5). When the seat is unoccupied the linkage applies the brake. The linkage ratchet by weight on the seat, so that when the brake pedal is pressed, the spring (2) can be compressed and held by the ratchet. On leaving the seat the spring is released and presses a plate (15) to operate on the brake master cylinder (1). At the same time an interlock switch (14) is opened to disconnect the transmission. The system provides a simple interlock for a small fork lift truck with automatic braking.</p> |
