<p>The electronic ballast circuit, for a gas discharge lamp, consists of a transistor switch (18) connecting one DC supply terminal (64) through to an inductor (20) (acting as energy store) connected over two switches to either end of the lamp (L). The other DC supply terminal (65) is switched by two switches to either end of the lamp. The four switches (22-25) act as a static inverter. The transistor switch is controlled (42) according to the current flowing through it and turns off when a given current is reached. The lamp is then supplied from the inductor. The inductor and transistor together from a ballast circuit.</p> |
