A simple mid engined vehicle has its power unit slung beneath the chassis frame between the front and rear axles. The chassis frame has two longitudinal members to which are bolted cradle supports, which run under the power unit and which are linked to the power unit by elastic engine mountings. The upper end of the power unit is stabilised on the chassis by means of engine mountings to a chassis frame member. The vehicle can thus have simple, single axled supports with any load or trailer weight applied evenly in the middle. It is suitable for an articulated towing unit, with improved stability from the low centre of gravity of the power unit. The cab can be fitted as selected without interfering with the power unit. |
