Fine flaked aluminium particles are produced by milling aluminium in granulated or atomised form in a vibratory ball mill, continuously supplying fresh amts. of the granulated or atomised aluminium to the mill, and continuously withdrawing milled fine flaked particles in a stream of inert gas. The fine flaked aluminium particles are useful as highly effective sensitisers for explosive compsns. The method is efficient and economic.
