1405558 Degreasing composition for metals VEREINIGTE METALLWERKE RANSHOFEN-BERNDORF AG 26 Sept 1973 [27 Sept 1972] 45134/73 Heading C5D A degreasing composition for metals comprises (A) trisodium phosphate, (B) sodium metasilicate, (C) isopropyl alcohol and (D) a non-ionic surfactant. The composition is used in aqueous solution. Preferably, 1 litre of aqueous solution contains 10 to 80 g. (A), 2 to 10 g. (B), 3 to 10 g. (D) and 25 to 150 ml of (C). The non-ionic surfactant is an ethoxylated fatty alcohol, e.g. a fatty alcohol condensate with 10 moles ethylene oxide. The compositions are particularly useful for degreasing aluminium articles, preferably in baths at a temperature of 40‹ C. and at a pH of 12À7. Other metals such as steel may also be degreased by the above compositions. |
