1462796 Suction apparatus RIMAR SpA 20 Nov 1974 [21 Nov 1973] 50294/74 Heading F4G A suction device for, for example, withdrawing liquid from a woven fabric, comprises two longitudinally extending or mutually facing half-shells 1, 2, one 1 being fixed and the other 2 being pivoted to said one half-shell 1 through a driving shaft 23 and a pusher 7 sealingly passing through the one half-shell 1 and engaging the inner surface of the other half-shell whereby the slit 4 formed between the free longitudinally extending edges 11, 22 may be adjusted in width. The pusher 7 is driven by a linkage which connects the pusher to a shaft 8 perpendicular to the direction of motion of the pusher 7. The shaft 8 is provided with an actuating means (Figs. 1, 3, not shown). A further shaft 30 extending parallel to the edges 11, 22 of the half-shells 1, 2 is provided, the shaft 30 carrying a laminar elongate rectangular element 32, 33 which may be brought across the slit 4 so as to close a part thereof. The space 6 between the half-shells communicates with a suction means. As disclosed a plurality of equispaced pushers 7 are provided the range of movement thereof being limited by a pin and slot 13 connection. The shaft 8 drives a worm gear 9 and the rotation thereof is translated into linear motion of the pusher by co-operating threads 10, 12. The shaft 30 carries a plurality of elements 32, 33 adjacent each end thereof for the purpose of limiting the extent of the slit open to the material to be treated. A seal 37 is interposed between the half-shell 2 and a hollow shaft 3 which carries the driving shaft 23. The half-shells 1, 2 may be pivoted away from each other for maintenance purposes by rotating the driving shaft 23. |
