<p>The current limiting circuit provides protection against excess load currents for lead acid battery chargers, and has a minimum number of components and the consequent risk of failure of such circuits. The circuit is sensitive to both the charges output voltage and the current being drawn, providing a sharp cutout if the ratio of the two exceeds a given value, but includes a delay to accommodate transient effects. Two separate circuits employ operational amplifiers with reference voltages being fed to their inputs and the load sensor outputs connected to the inverting inputs. One circuit drives a control thyristor the second a delay arrangement and relay switch.</p> |
