Low loading trailer axle - has independently coil sprung wheels mounted on stub axles with steering mechanism

The low loading trailer has a steerable axle with independently sprung wheels. The beam axle has top and bottom flanges (6a-6b) joined by spaced webs (7). A stub axle carrier (8) is welded onto the end of the beam and supports a vertical king post (9). The stub axle (15) and locating rod post (16) slide vertically on the king post. A coil spring lies between the lower face of the carrier (8) and a shoulder on the king post. Radial arms (18) are ball jointed (17) to the posts (16) and connected to a central bracket (20) which rotates freely about a vertical pivot (22) on the axle. The bracket has twin horizontal bars (23) for connection to a linkage which then controls the steering of the trailer.
