Carburettor for IC engine - has throttle end stop displaced electrically when engine is required to decelerate to close slow running jet

A throttle (3) is mounted on a shaft (4) in the carburettor throat (2). It is turned by a lever (5) attached to the shaft and operated by the accelerator pedal. The movement is limited by an end stop (7) placed so that when the accelerator is released the slow running jet (6) is on the downstream side of the throttle. The stop (7) can be pulled back by a solenoid so that it allows the throttle to rotate further and close the slow running jet. The solenoid is energised through a relay which is activated when the engine runs above a preset speed. Thus when the accelerator pedal is released above this speed the slow running jet is closed and the engine decelerates without consuming fuel.
