Device for marking fabric panels arranged pref. in a pile includes a platform which can be moved across the top of the pile and a needle supported by a handle secured to the platform. The needle is driven by a flexible drive to a drive motor and the handle is pref. slidable on a pillar so that the needle can be pushed through an aperture in the platform to penetrate the pile as it rotates thereby marking the fabric panels.
