Polygonal waveform generator - approximates any signal shape from independently set sample values fed to linear interpolator from strobed potentiometers

The function generator approximates almost any required signal shape, using a number of independently set sample value and a linear interpolator to produce a polygon shaped output waveform. The generator comprises a storage unit (3) driven by a timing waveform (T) and a feedback linear interpolator consisting of a subtractor (4) adder (6) and multiplier (5). The storage unit consists of a number of parallel connected potentiometers (7) on which the sample value are set. These are sequentially strobed and fed to the interpolator which produces the polygon shaped output required.
