Electric space heating for domestic application - uses fluorescent lighting tubes arranged in groups on the walls

Standard fluorescent lighting tubes are arranged in groups of up to about ten and each such group is mounted directly on a wall slightly above the floor level. A metal plate is held off the wall and forms a shield in front of the tubes which extends some distance above and below the top and bottom of the tubes. The heat produced by the tubes raises the temperature of the protecting shield which gives off a certain amount of radiation to the room and also produces a convective flow of air over the tubes behind the shield. This produces an even warmth in the room with improved ventilation and lower electricity consumption.
