Resistance welding long, wide workpieces - conveyed by worktable through portal fitted with row of welding electrode rollers

Electric resistance welded machine is fitted with a portal along which at least one pair of welding electrodes can be moved transversely to the longitudinal direction of the workpieces, which are conveyed through the portal by a clamping device. The novelty is that the clamping device consists of a grid table constructed from two longitudinal girders and two traverses which support a row of adjustable clamping rails; and a motor drives the table through the portal. Each of the longitudinal girders is pref. fitted with a toothed rack driven by a gear wheel and a pinion rotated by the motor. Appts allow welding of very wide workpieces of virtually unlimited length with min. distortion.
