1528813 Embossed latex foam sheets DOVERSTRAND Ltd 19 Nov 1975 [21 Nov 1974] 47705/75 Headings C3C and C3M [Also in Divisions B2 and B6] An embossed latex foam sheet is made by heating a sheet of a solid foam comprising a latex of an elastomeric polymer having dispersed therein a powdered solid thermoplastic material, of softening temperature (as defined) of 90- 200‹ C. in an amount of 25-100% by wt. based on the latex solids, the heating being sufficient to soften the thermoplastic material, contacting the sheet with a cold embossing roll to imprint a pattern on one or both sides of the sheet and cooling the thermoplastic material to below its softening temperature so as to set the embossed pattern. The elastomer may be a styrene-butadiene copolymer and the thermoplastic material may be PVC, a polyolefine or a wax. |
