The storage unit particularly intended for charts comprises a plinth, a top panel resting on columns, and a number of chart trays horizontally swivelable arranged above one another on one or more common shafts. The shaft consists of a number of sections rotatable relative to one another. The height of each section equals that of the shallowest standard tray, and the combined height of two or more sections equals that of different, higher, trays. Each section has recesses, releasably engaged by projections, on the trays to permit their removal.
