<p>1414817 Card reader TRANSACTION TECHNOLOGY Inc 31 Jan 1973 [3 Feb 1972 10 April 1972] 4797/73 Heading G4M A credit card carries data in the form of perforations and embossments. Perforated data occupies four columns with a central clock track. The data columns are staggered (Fig. 2) and clock perforations occur for every other item. A reader (Fig. 3) has offset data sensors 126, 128, 130, 132 corresponding to the offset perforations and has two clock sensors 122, 124 which are alternately aligned with a clock perforation. Each clock interval is divided into 10 subintervals with specific actions occurring in specific intervals (Fig. 6, not shown). The reader has a card entry detector 12 and a card exit detector 118, and a circuit controlling transfer of data read from the card to a data register and to a buffer register (Fig. 5, not shown) is described.</p> |
