Cement raw meal is preheated in cyclones 1, 2, 3, 4, sintered in kiln 12 and the clinker is cooled at 14. A boiler 16 receives gases from the cyclone 2 and discharges them to the cyclone 1, and the boiler preheater is heated by gases from the cyclone 1. Part of the fumes from the cyclone 2 are directed to a drier-crusher 24, which also receives heated air from the cooler 14. The steam from the boiler may be used to drive a turbine generator. The proportion of the gases fed to the boiler is controlled by a valve 28 in the line supplying the drier, and the boiler is arranged to be heated to more than 400‹ C.</p> |
