The cells are connected in series by connector bar passing through the adjacent walls connecting the facing plate straps 11, 12, a seal ring 13 being provided, the seal ring having an external groove in which the casing walls engage. The battery is carried by a strap 15 having handles 21, 22 and is retained by strips 16, 18 located on the filler tubes 17, 19. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown) adjacent cells are spaced by a plastics strip interposed between the adjacent walls, the seal ring also penetrating the strip. |
