<p>Carbonaceous substances, esp. waste matl. of all types e.g. polluted potable water or water contg. silver or gold cyanides, are destroyed by (a) irradiating with light having a wavelength of 20-600 m mu, and (b) simultaneously subjecting to the action of water and excess oxygen. The mixt. to be treated contains catalytic amts. of a chlorine cpd. pref. hydrogen chloride, this cpd. being subsequently eliminated.</p> |
