Food is conveyed into a circular hopper through a vertical tube passing into the hopper. The hopper base is a dished circular tray with sides of larger diameter than the upper half and forms a feeding gallery. The gap between hopper and tray governs the amount of food available and this is regulated using a wire ring with pegs fitting in holes at different heights in the hopper sides. Birds cannot sit in the food and so spoil it. The domed base ensures that food from the vertical pipe falls to the feed gallery.
|
