Locking stop positions of indexing table - by swivelling elements with controlled motion engaging radial slots in table when stopped

Arrangement is for locking the index positions of an intermittently rotating table (3) and includes e.g. a Maltese cross mechanism (10, 12), to rotate the table with short intervals and variable dwell time. It comprises a number of radial slots (12a) in the table, each of which is associated with a pre-determined index position, and stops which, in a given position of the mechanism, engage one of the slots. The stop comprise two locking elements (25, 26) carried at the ends of two levers (27, 28) which symmetrically swivel about axes (29, 30) at right angles to the slot centre line. The elements can enter the slot to engage opposite side walls of the slot.
