Theadjustable switch for a thermostat has a sensor exploiting thermal expansion. A lever operated by the sensor actuates a switching element. The two-armed lever (6) is a right angle to the sensor (3), and has a forked end which is coupled with the sensor's top end. The lever is supported by two knife-edge (10) on one arm (11) of an L-shaped supporting lever (12) parallel to it. The supporting lever can swivel on a knife-edge (13) on the switching mechanism base (1). Its other arm (14) interacts with a lever (15) adjustable by a screw (17) setting the switch-off temperature.
