The metal cladding is for a cylindrical hollow sited in a pressure tank made of prestressed concrete, with the cladding directly supported on the concrete sheath as used in nuclear reactors, where the core is held in such a hollow. In the area where it crosses over from the sheath component to the roofing and/or flooring component, the metal cladding is in an elastic form. Here it may be in the form of an expansion compensating element, pref. toroid with a piece cut out, and with a round or rectangular outline. There may also be expansion compensation elements in the sheath component and in the ceiling and flooring components, pref. in the form of half tubular shells. The effect of forces resulting from expansion or contraction on the metal cladding is considerably reduced.
