Decorative laminated sheets, using webs (paper, fabrics, asbestos, glass cloth) impregnated with various (e.g., phenolic) thermosetting resins are produced by stack pressing hot at low pressures up to max. 40 kp/cm2; the bottom face of the core, remote from the decorative layer, is in direct contact with a layer porous to moisture vapour. Press. is pref. 10-40 kp/cm2, esp. 20-30 kp/cm2. Laminates can be produced in platen presses or continuous band presses at low pressures without cooling before extn.
