The reflector for a tubular source of radiation, particularly an ultraviolet lamp, is symmetrical about the centre line. The reflector is trench-shaped, with a rear panel (17, 23), and side panels (24) inclined to it. Together these completely enclose the source (3), leaving only a narrow gap between it and each panel. The side panels can be parallel to each other at the outlet gap, and can extend past the source. The width of the gaps between the panels and the source can be less than the diameter of the source itself.
