Stabilised ejector release units for aircraft load - with two simultaneously activated catches linked to common explosive charge

The aircraft load or bomb is secured by two catches (4) which grip hooks (3) at both ends of the load. The catches are operated by opposing levers linked to a common cam, and braced by springs. An explosive charge operates a striker to press on the cam and release the catches. Using two sets of catches the load is securely held and does not swing in the slipstream. Some of the gases from the explosive charge are diverted through ducts from the catches. This prevents the load from snagging int he slipstream and spoiling the aim. The ejector plungers locate on stubs on the load for an even more secure mounting.
