(3)-Methyl-pentanediol bis (3)-amino-propyl ether - for use as plasticising curing agent for epoxy resins

New 3-methyl-pentan-1,5-diol-bis(3-aminopropyl) ether is produced by hydrogenation (viz., e.g. DS 2254720) of the corresp. dinitrile which, in turn is made by reaction of 3-methyl-pentan-1,5-diol with 2 mols acrylonitrile (viz. DT 2121325). In an example, an 80% methanolic soln. of the dinitrile was hydrogenated at 200 bars. (I) was obtd. in 98% yield.
