<p>A handling device for inspection equipment, such as ultrasonic detectors, inside a rotationally symmetrical pressure vessel comprises a rotational bearing at the centre of the vessel bottom and a support tube or similar vertical member which rest in the bearing and can revolve about the vertical axis of the vessel. The support tube has >=1 arm mounted on it so that they can pivot about a horizontal axis on the tube, their face end(s) carrying inspection equipment which sweeps the inner face of the vessel. The arms are movable axially (vertically) inside the vessel. Pref. the inspection head can pivot about the longitudinal axis of the arm. Used for any reactor pressure vessel which is rotationally symmetrical, esp. for a water reactor, either on land or marine. The inspection assembly can be introduced from the top through the restricted central passage of the annular steam generator, after this has been lifted out of the pressure vessel into the change tank temporarily mounted at the top. The assembly is adapted for both the cylindrical wall and the spherical bottom dome. It can be withdrawn when only power supplies are available, due to mechanical and electrical faults.</p> |
