1523463 Hydrocarbon synthesis SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 23 Oct 1975 [25 Oct 1974] 43597/75 Heading C5E In a process for the preparation of normally liquid hydrocarbons, a hydrogen- and carbon monoxide-containing gas is prepared by the partial combustion of a carbonaceous material with oxygen which is at a temperature in the range 200‹ to 500‹ C., the partial combustion being carried out in the presence of 5-15% by volume of steam (based on oxygen) at a temperature in the range 900‹ to 1800‹ C., a pressure in the range 1 to 200 bar abs. and a residence time in the range 0À1 to 12 seconds, the resulting gas is contacted with steam in a plurality of stages, in which the temperature of the first stage is in the range 250‹ to 450‹ C. and the temperature in the last stage is in the range 200‹ to 400‹ C. to convert carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide and hydrogen, the resulting gas is cooled at a pressure in the range 1 to 200 bar abs. to a temperature in the range -10‹ to -80‹ C. to remove part of the carbon dioxide content thereof as liquid or solid carbon dioxide, the resulting gas of lower carbon dioxide content is reacted with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst at a temperature in the range 150‹ to 380‹ C. and a pressure in the range 2 to 100 atm. g. too form hydrocarbons, the resulting reaction product is cooled to form a liquid product comprising liquid hydrocarbons and water, and said liquid hydrocarbons are separated and dried. |
