<p>The pad (1) which is to be struck with hand or foot, is fixed to a vertical board (3) whose lower end is fastened to the short vertical of a J-shaped angle-iron frame (9). The long vertical is screwed to a wall, and the horizontal to the floor. A horizontal strut (12) bolted to the long vertical, reaches across the angle-iron frame to the vertical board (3). This strut takes some of the force of the blow, and reduces the stress where the board joins the iron frame. The iron frame's long vertical is pierced by several holes (11), so that the horizontal strut can be bolted to it at various heights, to alter the resilience of the board behind the pad (1), and so vary the intensity of the training.</p> |
