Potted electrical components production - uses casting resin and connection wires used as loop during casting are sheared as final production stage

Electrical components such as resistors, capacitors and thermistors are mass produced as items embedded in casting resin within a shell, with connecting wires attached. Typically, a cylindrical capacitor (1) is produced initially with a wire loop (4) attached. Projecting bars (5, 7) provide the necessary spacing during embedding. The capacitor is located within the shell (2) and the casting resin added. When the resin is hardened the wire loop is sheared (I) to leave two projecting wires for connection purposes. The embedding process gives protection against adverse environmental effects.
