PURPOSE:To enable a light emitting element to have light emission high and stable enough in brightness by a method wherein an injection type EL element, in which electrons are injected through one of electrodes and holes are injected through the other electrode, is provided, where a light emitting function manifesting layer formed of organic complex compound of rare earth metal is used as a light emitting layer. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting element is provided with two electrode layers 2 and 4 and a light emitting layer, which is possessed of an organic compound thin film layer 3 that mainly contains organic complex compound of rare earth metal, provided between the electrode layers 2 and 4. Or, an organic compound thin film layer 13 and a charge injection layer 15 may as well be laminated between electrodes 12 and 14. The organic compound thin film concerned is utilized as an amorphous, a polycrystalline, or a single crystal thin film which contain amorphism, fine crystals, or a single crystal respectively. The thin film is not specially defined in thickness, but the thin film 50-5000Angstrom in thickness is usually used. |
