<p>The strip is adhered to the separator films by means of a melt adhesion which is applied to the edge strip while it is still hot immediately after extrusion, at which stage the surface of the edge strip is still completely clean. The nozzle from which the adhesive is applied to the edge strip can be integrated in the extruder nozzle which produces the edge strip, or it may be disposed between the extruder nozzle and the cooling bath. The edge strip together with the applied adhesive is subjected to cooling to prevent distortion. The edge strip may then be cut to the desired lengths which are joined to the separator films and bonded to them by application of heat.</p> |
