1471846 Anaerobic culturing device MILES LABORATORIES Inc 19 Feb 1975 [18 March 1974] 7020/75 Heading C6F Apparatus for the test culturing of microorganisms in a layer of nutrient agar under anaerobic conditions includes a slotted chamber 32 for the reception of a gas-generating tablet composed e.g. of citric acid and sodium bicarbonate. When moisture is applied to the tablet, as liquid water or moist vapour from the nutrient agar, carbon dioxide evolved passes through the slots to fill the main chamber 26 defined by the agar layer (not shown) on base 16, closure 36 and the co-operating sidewalls. The side walls 38-44 of the closure 36 slant outwardly. The apparatus may be of circular configuration instead of rectangular as depicted.
