I has the formula in which R is a C 2-22 alkyl or alkenyl radical, A is an oxyethylene radical and B is an oxypropylene radical, m = 10-30 and n = 3-10; the ratio n : m is from 1 : 2 to 1 : 8 and the amount of iodine in the complex is 15-40% by wt. of I. The complex may be prepared by reacting elementary iodine (which may be prepared in situ from H1 and H 2 O 2 ) with I at 50-70‹ C. Reaction may take place in aqueous solution.
