A reactor for the catalytic conversion of gases, esp. the recombination of hydrogen and oxygen which have been radioactively separated in a boiling water reactor, comprises a closed reaction chamber with gas inlet and outlet, which contains a catalyst granulate bed with top catalyst inlet and valve and bottom catalyst discharge and valve. Pref. the top and bottom of the catalyst bed are parallel and the vessel has its axis, at 15-75 degrees to the vertical, with the catalyst bed perpendicular to this axis and therefore also inclined. The valves are pref. remote controlled. New catalyst can be introduced by gravity and consumed catalyst similarly discharged, all by remote control. |
