1537161 Moulding frictional elements NUTURN CORP 7 Jan 1976 [22 May 1975] 00495/76 Heading B5A Friction material for use in brakes, clutches, &c. is made from a dry mixture of friction material, including asbestos fibres, thermosetting resin and friction modifying particles. Because this mixture tends to "fluff" the mixed ingredients are progressively withdrawn from the supply of dry mixture along a closed path to which heat and pressure is being continuously supplied so that when the mixed ingredients reach a charge measuring device they are in a partially plasticized condition. Successive charges are lead to a compression moulding operation for final shaping and curing. |
