1420309 Stoppers ALKALINE BATTERIES Ltd 2 Jan 1973 [6 Jan 1972] 667/72 Heading B8T [Also in Division H1] A filling hole cover for an electric cell has a body member 19 and a cap member 30 both made of moulded plastics. The body member 19 has a filling passageway which may be closed by the cap member 30, the two members being connected by a hinge pin 45 extending through two resilient cantilever arms 21, 22 moulded with the body member and an arm structure 35 moulded with the cap member. The arm structure is formed as a cam which engages a camming surface 24 so that the cap member is biased into a closed position. Flat surfaces 37, 38 on the cam provide for two stable open positions of the cap member at 90 and 180 degrees from the closed position. The body member is provided with a bayonet fitting 18 and a sealing gasket 20. A spigot 31 of the cap member carries a diaphragm 33 to seal the passageway. In modifications the body member may be screwthreaded or provided with a split tubular spigot to attach it to the cell lid 11 and the hinge pin 45 may be replaced by integrally moulded spigots. |
