1471849 Machine tool details NIKOTOOL-SYSTEMTECHNIK MASCHINENBAU GmbH & CO KG 7 Jan 1976 [10 Jan 1975] 00411/76 Headings B3B B3C and B3L [Also in Division G1] Apparatus for locating a tool, workpiece, or measuring instrument comprises a first drum 3 rotatable in a support 1, a second drum 4 rotatable eccentrically of and within the first drum, and a sleeve 5 rotatable eccentrically of and within the second drum, the sleeve being movable axially relative to the second drum and being arranged to carry a tool, workpiece or measuring instrument, e.g. by means of a rotatable spindle 6. On the back of the support 1 are gauging devices (Fig. 2, not shown), for setting the angular positions of the drums 3, 4 and axial position of the sleeve 5. The drum 3 is rotated by a drive comprising a main drive 9 and a locating drive 10, both acting through a pinion 11 on an external ring gear 3b. The drum 4 is rotated by a main drive 12 and a locating drive 13 through gear 14 and an internal ring gear 3c. The sleeve 5 is rotated by a drive 18, 19, 20 through a splined sleeve 21, and is moved axially by a piston 5a. The drums 3, 4 are clamped in a located position by fluid pressure clamps 16, 17 which act on the ring gears 3b and 3c. The shaft 6 may hold a tool and either drum may be rotated to bore a large diameter hole, or the drums can be fixed and the sleeve 5 rotate to drive a tool. The drums may be used to position a tool only and a workpiece moved relative thereto by means of a table movable on a base 2, e.g. a planing operation. |
